Almost Demon The Sigil Cycle Volume 1 AJ Salem 9781629660035 Books
Almost Demon caught my eye due to the title. How can something or someone be "almost" a demon, or angel for that matter? Just when you think you might have that answer, take some time and read this book. Your perspective may very well change! With all of the glorious vampires, and werewolves running amuck with fairy tale romances among the literary world (I enjoy those stories as well, don't get me wrong), it is a breath of fresh air to venture into the supernatural and find a different, and very spirit filled, experience. AJ Salem brings both myth and reality into this story that some will recognize, while others discover these timely truths for the first time. I enjoyed Almost Demon on my Kindle so much that I visited the author's website and purchased a special autographed edition for my daughter's 15th birthday. I promise this book will appeal to any age of it's reader, and you will agree that AJ has hit a home run with her well-written story. A word of caution for those who get truly curious about symbolism, particularly sigils (they do indeed exist)...do thorough research before you go trying out your own sigils...you never know what you might be bringing into your life.Tags : Almost Demon (The Sigil Cycle) (Volume 1) [AJ Salem] on Amazon.com. *FREE* shipping on qualifying offers.
The explosive debut novel by AJ Salem!

Believe in ghosts? angels? demons?
Almost Demon will catapult you into the world of Gemma Pope - high school senior,AJ Salem,Almost Demon (The Sigil Cycle) (Volume 1),Salem Books,1629660035,Teens Fiction,Fiction - Romance,Fiction Romance Paranormal General,Fiction : Romance - Fantasy,FictionRomance - Fantasy,Romance,Romance - Fantasy,Romance - Paranormal - General,FICTION Fantasy Paranormal

Nothing short of spectacular ! Did not want to put it down ! AJ Salem is an amazing author . I hope this is the first of many !!!
Very good read, I couldn't put it down. I liked the imagery and the way the flashbacks were woven in.
This book was a lot of fun to read unexpected plot twists weave together an excitingly creative story about a young woman dealing with challenges in her life - both natural and supernatural. I look forward to the next installment.
A great, easy to follow story with likable characters. I'll be running over to to see if there's a sequel!
“So, have you given much thought to your demon of choice?...”
“How about him? Pointing to a half man, half lion riding a bear with a serpent in hand?”
That breezy, summer afternoon changed everything. The twisted pile of steel on the side of the highway took Gemma’s twin brother, two of her best friends, and although she survived, it ended her average teen life. After that day she was plagued with grief, guilt and visions - dark things – Dybbuks.
Gemma returned to school in a cloak of blame. Everyone in town believed the accident was her fault. But, two new mysterious men in her life offer a glint of hope. Ian, the incredibly gorgeous new guy who smells of cinnamon and spice and is surprisingly into her; and her new, cute English teacher Mr. Flynn, who dedicates himself to teaching her how to become a demonic summoner.
AJ Salem’s debut novel was a fast paced, suspenseful page-turner that kept me up all night cheering Gemma on as she fought to save Harrisport from evil. As a former fanatic of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and mystery novel enthusiast, this book hit home. I appreciated that AJ Salem, effectively wove demonic history and mythology into the plot making it an interesting read as well as entertaining, much like another one of my favorite novels, The Historian by Elizabeth Kostova. I’m eagerly awaiting the second volume of The Sigil Cycle.
This was an enjoyable read, but the main character's lack of intelligence (it took her WAY too long to figure things out and some of it was really obvious) was a little bit more than I could handle. If I try to tell myself that all teenage girls are stupid when it comes to their hormones, it becomes a little more believable, but it was other wise a well-written story. I also found the main character to be a bit selfish and quick to anger; she seemed blind to the consequences of everything.
I recommend the book, because I think there are many out there who will like it; it just wasn't my kind of story.
What else can I say about this book other than the fact that it was non-stop excitement with every page turned! Salem delivers an epic storyline in what can only be described as mysterious, thrilling, addictive and captivating. I couldn't help but to become attached to the protagonist, Gemma, and all of her strengths, weaknesses and constant battles within herself. Salem managed to bring about characters whom weren't over the top but likable in the sense that I could actually picture them as if they went to the same school with me. I thoroughly enjoy reading books where I can relate to the surroundings, character development and overall theme and Almost Demon does just that. I would highly recommend this book to any teenager or adult, for that matter. I'm looking forward to the next addition to this highly anticipated series.
