Not what I was expecting after reading the first book. I still like the story and the characters but I don't feel like I connected to them as much as I did with the first book. I fell like the story moved away from the Vicara aspect of the books and more into the drama of the characters every day lives. I can't believe how young all the characters are and the types of adult problems they have to deal with, but maybe that is a result of the society they live in. I do enjoy reading from Ryan's point of view but I felt like he was left out of some of the interesting details of the other's lives. I don't feel that they fully trust him even thought they say they do. It would be interesting to see the story from someone elses point of view that has more details on the team, maybe Mackenzie or Clarrisse? I am interested to see where Mauldin takes this story next.

It's been a year since we last joined Ryan and the other Belligerents. New challenges await them. Emotions run hot. How will they handle these obstacles and will they all survive?
What a GREAT book- if you like futuristic books- be sure and read this one.
A lot of reviews said the book dragged, and I almost didn't read it. The book is an excellent continuation to the first book. The development of character is so intriguing that you worry along with them. You don't realize you reach the end if the book and it's left with a awesome cliffhanger.
Resilient follows the hero of Belligerent as he continues his studies at Proserpine Academy, working with his team to the ultimate goal - Vicara, and winning their freedom. Ryan and his teammates struggle with keeping up their grades while facing rival teams and preparing for their sixth-year test - a personal trial that is surrounded in mystery. We also learn more about each member of the team's past - including some interesting relatives! Resilient was a great second installment to the Vicara series and I look forward to reading more. The book moves quickly, keeping a steady pace for the entire narrative. I look forward to finding out more!

this book was way better than the first and I am so glad she made it longer!!!! I can't wait to see how it ends in the next book!!!! She is a wonderful writer and I could see her as she wrote. It's great!!!
Good fun, looking forward to more. Similar (not a copy) to Hunger games (probably how most Dystopian stories seem now), but there's enough differences open that I'm very hopeful and anticipatory of the rest.
